1. How to request deletion
Send an e-mail to support@unfollower.net with the subject Delete my data and include:
- the Instagram username you used in the App (or the username whose data you want removed);
- a note if you want analytics identifiers deleted as well (see below).
You can reach this page directly from the App via Settings → Delete My Data — the request channel is the same. We may ask a clarifying question to make sure the request refers to the right account; we never ask for your Instagram password.
No account details to hand? Just write to us from any e-mail address with the username — that is all we need to locate the data.
2. What gets deleted
- Your account record on our backend: the Instagram username you registered with.
- Audience snapshots: the stored lists of followers/followings used to compare scans, including all history and diffs.
- Scan history and cached engagement/content analytics linked to the account.
- Analytics identifiers, on request: we forward deletion requests for the associated internal UUID and advertising ID to our processors (Mixpanel, AppsFlyer, Apphud, Google Analytics for Firebase, and Sentry where active).
3. Timing
We complete deletion requests within 30 days of receiving them, and usually much faster. You will get a confirmation e-mail when it is done. Residual copies in encrypted backups are purged on the backup rotation cycle.
4. Log Out is not deletion
Log Out in the App clears data stored locally on your device only. Your server-side record — username and audience snapshots — remains until you request deletion as described above. This is intentional: it lets you log back in later and keep your scan history. If you want the server-side data gone, send the deletion request.
5. If you don’t use the App
The App analyses publicly available profile data, so your public username, display name or avatar may appear in someone else’s report — for example, if you follow a profile that was scanned. You do not need to be an App user to request removal: e-mail support@unfollower.net with the subject Third-party data removal and your username, and we will remove your data from our stored snapshots within the same 30-day window.
6. What we can’t delete
- Google Play billing records are held by Google under its own policies — manage them via your Google account.
- Your public Instagram profile itself — we don’t control Instagram; deleting data from our Service does not change what is publicly visible on Instagram.
- Records we are legally required to keep (e.g. related to fraud prevention or accounting), retained only as long as the law requires.
Details on how data is collected and processed are in the Privacy Policy.
